FLORA & FAUNA - NATIVE PLANTS- PART 5

San Diego Sunflower

Because they’ve been here for hundreds or even thousands of years, native plants are extremely well adapted for San Diego’s unique climate. Native plants, like the San Diego Sunflowers (Viguiera lacinata) shown above, provide the best food and shelter for local wildlife.

Going Native

Many native plants have beautiful flowers that can attract birds and other wildlife to your backyard. Native plants also usually require less irrigation and pesticide than non-native plants.
