Adopt a Wood Duck Box
Wood ducks live in wooded swamps, where they nest in holes in trees or in nest boxes put up around lake margins. At Santee Lakes, we have a thriving Wood Duck population due to our Wood Duck Nesting Box Program.
For $300, each tax-deductible donation will include your name engraved on the Wood duck nesting box of your choice (if available) and three years of maintenance, which includes cleaning, any repairs needed, and replacing nesting materials regularly.
If you are interested in adopting a Wood duck nesting box, please complete the form below and a member of our Park Staff will contact you to coordinate your donation.

Note: Boxes can be adopted, but will not be installed mid-January through May 1, due to active nesting season.
Participants of the Wood Duck Nesting Box Program can select the location of the Wood duck box from the Santee Lakes provided list of locations. The Wood duck box may need to be relocated due to unforeseen circumstances, it is as the discretion of Park Staff to relocate the box and determine it’s new location. Adoption of a Wood duck box is a $300.00 donation and is valid for one box for a period of three years and one month effective on the date of payment. The $300.00 tax-deductible donation will include your name engraved on the Wood duck box, selection of available placement locations, and three years of box maintenance, which includes cleaning, any necessary repairs, and replacement of nesting material regularly.
