Spring is in the air!
We see the wood duck mommies and daddies atop the nesting boxes awaiting their babies’ daring jump from their high homes to the lawn below. It’s quite a sight, so be sure to look up next time you are here!
Babies are also nesting in surprising spots, like this little bunny and his sibs that were born in an unsuspecting camper’s wagon. Don’t worry, they were retrieved safely by Ranger Richard:)

The Lakes
Meet Adam!
Adam is out Park & Recreation Coordinator and has been at Santee Lakes for 3 years. His is a San Diego native and San Diego State graduate – Go Aztecs! When Adam is not at work, he enjoys mountain biking, sports and video games. I asked him what he likes about his job at the Lakes, and he said “there is variety in my job every day, no two days are the same”. You will see Adam out and about, so stop him and say hi, unless you are fishing without a permit, then he will probably stop you.
Reminder:
We have so many beautiful birds that travel through or call Santee Lakes home, we hate to see them wrapped in fishing line. Please discard your line in one of the receptacles throughout the Park or a nearby trash can. Thanks!
Campground
Don’t forget, if you are camping with us, there are great events in the Clubhouse on a weekly basis and the perfect way to meet new people from all over the country.
